My early work in non-perturbative many body systems[1] and lattice gauge theory[2] - which produced a new and surprising connection between the Lanczos tridiagonal form of a Hamiltonian and lowest states of the extensive system[3] - was a natural starting point to develop my interest in quantum computing (QC).
My present work focuses mainly on theoretical aspects of the implementation of quantum computing in the solid-state. Given the complexities of donor systems in semi-conductors, detailed theoretical modelling of the quantum systems proposed as QC architectures is required by experimentalists not only to fabricate and develop existing schemes, but also to develop novel architectures for solid-state quantum computing.
